To be a flower:
beauty and disgust
Clasp your hand around me
and rip me free
give me to your baby
until i wilt and pass
into my sad state of immortality
unable to break down
to merge with what was once me
i'm stuck in your reality
i'm not supposed to belong
i'm a stone among bricks
breaking and crumbling
about to topple from the wall
but i cling for dear life
for fear that my loss
will break the foundation of it all
besides, after i fall
it will just be me
alone on the ground
gather me up
place me with the other stones
what happens there
but weathering?
we all sit and wait to erode
bit by bit
i want to grow legs
i want to be free
i want to set apart from it all
tred my own path
and be what i can be
